NFIB Minnesota Endorses Barb Haley for Minnesota House The political action arm of Minnesota’s most influential small-business association today endorsed state Rep. Barb Haley for re-election to her District 21A House seat.
Speaking for the NFIB Minnesota PAC, which made the endorsement, Mike Hickey, NFIB’s Minnesota state director said, “Rep. Haley has cast many critical votes for small business and has truly shown her level of appreciation for the contributions that our members make to Minnesota’s economy. She understands that small business is the lifeblood of Minnesota’s economy and has consistently supported the men and women of the small-business community.”
Hickey highlighted some of the bills Representative Haley voted for that were beneficial to the small-business community. They included:
a significant small-business property tax reduction, signed into law, that reduced taxes for the smallest businesses by 20 percent to 30 percent. An average business received a $700 to
$900 reduction in taxes payable in 2018.
a significant $1 million increase in the estate tax exemption, also signed into law, which raised it from $2 million to $3 million per person.
a desperately needed 25 percent reduction in health insurance premiums in 2017 for those in the individual market, signed into law. The measure also made other critical insurance reforms to make our market more competitive.
support for critical legislation that preempts local units of government from enacting minimum wages higher than the state’s. The legislation would have also stopped the imposition of other new mandates on local businesses.
“She has been a true ally for the small-business community,” said Hickey, and we are urging business owners and constituents in district 21A to vote for her in the November 6 General Election.” The endorsement of Haley by the NFIB Minnesota PAC is based on positions taken on key small-business issues, including health care, taxes, labor, and regulatory issues.
